Name: Cheetah
Age: Adult
Breed: Tuxedo
Reason for being at shelter: Abandoned
Description: Cheetah is a terrified kitty. She doesn't know why she was abandoned. She doesn't know why she is here. This place certainly isn't home to her, and she doesn't know the people that try to visit with her. Her reaction is to hiss and spit. But slowly move your hand to her head and stroke her and she doesn't hiss and spit nor does she scratch or bite. That just shows how terrified she is and that she is not mean or aggressive. She's just frightened beyond belief. We're working with her to help her realize we are a friend. We don't know how long she was an abandoned stray or what she experienced but something tells us she didn't fare well with any of it. Slow movements, a gentle touch, and soft words are helping. She accepts being petted around her head and ears but trembles if you stroke further along her back and tail. Her coat is so silky soft.
Poor, dear Cheetah. She needs your help. More volunteers are welcome to sit and spend time with her. Staff hasn't been able to reach her inner soul yet, but a volunteer is making slight progress. We're very hopeful that a home setting and getting out of the shelter environment will greatly help her. Maybe someone would consider a foster arrangement?
