My Story

Like his hobbit namesake, Merry is highly sociable, sweet-natured, seemingly optimistic despite having seen more of the world and its cruelty than he might have liked, and is very much motivated by food. He is estimated to be 1 - 3 years old. He would love to be in a home with people and/or cats who have time to hang out with him. He is the sort of cat who will meow for you when he is alone and bored and who will start to purr as soon as you sit next to him. Merry would like nothing better than to sit next to you while looking out the window and occasionally receiving some pets on the head. He is FIV+, so he should be an indoor-only cat, and if there are other cats in the home it would be best if they were also FIV+ although FIV is not transferred by grooming, sharing dishes and litter boxes and with normal care and good food he will live a normal life. Merry was recently rescued from homelessness and the snow and is working on litter box training. He is currently living with elementary-aged children and is highly affectionate with them. We have not seen him around younger children, but he is so people-oriented and so mellow that we suspect he'd be great with younger children too. Merry's rehoming fee is $50. This cat is offered for adoption due to the owner's personal circumstances. For more information on meeting and adopting this kitty, please fill out a pre-adoption application under "ADOPT" on our website at WWW.CATSCRADLERESCUE.COM. Your information will be forwarded to the owner for follow-ups and meeting arrangement. Cat's Cradle is an all-volunteer, non-profit foster-home based rescue serving Oregon cats who need new homes. 100% of your adoption fee goes to provide for the medical and physical needs of the cats in our care. We invite you to become a foster parent and experience the great satisfaction of helping a cat or kitten in need.
