My Story

How I Arrived At NHS: I was adopted as a kitten from NHS. But I couldn't get along with the children so I was brought back to NHS to find a forever home. I was having a hard time being at the shelter and started to shut down and get a little cranky so I went into a foster home while I waited to get adopted. Notes from my foster dad: Let me introduce you to Gilbert Rubble. Gilbert, who was no doubt named by young children, is a big boy who is a very gentle soul who lives by the Ferris Bueler's mantra, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it". Gilbert keeps a very close eye on things, always aware of everything that's going around the household. He doesn't do anything about them, he's just aware... Gilbert lives for 3 basic things, sleep, food, and scratches. Heavy on the scratches, anywhere and everywhere. Gilbert has an unusually high level of overstimulation, so if you scratch at a moderate rate, you can scratch him pretty much anywhere forever and he will just keep moving his head around asking for more, he's insatiable! He purrs very softly, you will barely hear him, but he's happy none the less. His fur is a bit on the coarse side, he loves being groomed which helps soften his coat and makes him look great! As you can see in the pictures, Gilbert is a big boy, however he's a gentle giant. He's very soft when he reaches for more scratches and does want casual touch sometimes. He has a pretty good appetite; he eats dry food and will eat 3-4 ounces daily. He doesn't have any bad habits, and he doesn't shed very much. Give him a good consideration, he will work his way into your heart very quickly!!! Good With Kids: No Good With Cats: gets along fine with the cat currently in his foster home. They don't seek each other out and don't hang out but are living peacefully. Good With Dogs: unknown Cats are feline leukemia tested (if applicable), if there is a litter, one in the litter is tested or the queen is tested. They are placed for adoption if this test is negative. They have had at least their first distemper combo (booster given if been in our care for the appropriate time), been de-wormed, microchipped, and treated with a flea and tick product (if applicable). All the cats are spayed or neutered before they leave for their forever homes. Cat adoption fees range from $10 to $100 + tax; Kitten adoption fees are $120 to $175 + tax.
