My Story

Meet Griffin! He is a very playful boy who loves to wrestle with other kitties, climb on cat trees, and play with anything that will roll! Griffin would be a great companion for your kitty that gets lonely while you are gone, and it would be great for Griffin to be in a home with people who understand that he is a shy guy, and can work on building trust with him over a period of time. The reward will be that once Griffin gets comfortable with you, he has a strong purr motor, and he loves to be held like a baby and get kisses! Griffin is an extra special boy! We found out on his neuter surgery day that Griffin is FIV positive. But the great news is that, once a cat is spayed or neutered, it is very unlikely that they can pass FIV to any other cat! The two main ways of transmission of FIV are through blood contact, which is most often the result of fighting, and reproduction. Both behaviors are greatly reduced or completely eliminated by spaying and neutering! FIV used to be a death sentence for cats in shelters, but with advanced education we have learned that FIV positive cats can live regular lives just like any other cat! Because of the very low possibility of transmission to other cats, Griffin is perfectly able to be adopted into a home with other non-FIV cats, and he gets to play everyday with the other cats here at The Cat Hut! His best friend is Martin, and you can see the two of them playing together in the video! You can read more about FIV at the link below: https://www.alleycat.org/resources/feline-immunodeficiency-virus-fiv/ A more recent development for Griffin is that when he walks you can see that his knees have a snapping motion. Griffin is not in any pain, and he runs and jumps around just like any other young cat. He has been to the vet, and as long as he is not in any pain, they are not recommending that he have surgery. If he were to start showing signs of pain, there is a surgery to help correct the issue. Griffin's Adoption Fee has been waived to get him one step closer to a loving forever home!
