My Story

Hekate (Hek) is a shy and timid cat looking for her forever home. She has been through a lot in her short life. Her brother had a stroke due to parasites when they were only 4 months old. As a result, he required 24-hour care. They became the best of friends but then as he grew, he began to push her out of the way when eating, thus preventing her from getting enough food. During this time, the bond with her brother was broken and she became very depressed until she was moved to a different foster home where she came back to life. She loves having her back scratched, getting belly rubs, eating treats, and playing with other cats. Hekate may take several months to warm up to a new caregiver. Anybody who is looking to adopt this cat must understand that it will take a considerable commitment before you will begin to see results. She also loves the houses in cat trees, so any potential adopter needs to have a cat tree or be willing to get one that has a hut/house in it (They're really cheap on FB marketplace). She does need other friendly cats who will not be too overbearing with her. A strong alpha male would not be appropriate to be with her. She is not a hypercat, but she does like to play each day once she feels comfortable. She lives with a foster in a house. She would do best in a calm home with 1-2 adults and another cat. She could also be in a household with multiple cats. She would do best with someone who is experienced working with shy cats. She is very shy and good with non-overbearing cats. She would not be good with dogs or kids. If you are looking for a shy young cat who is learning and seeking affectionate then consider Hekate! - - - - - - - - - There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal’s history is unknown. All ages and breeds are a best estimate. Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated. Cats are up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption. Interested in adopting or learning more about this cat?
