My Story

Marvel was surrendered to a local veterinarian’s office here on Long Island at four weeks old after having been hit by a car. As a result of the head trauma she endured from the accident, she was left completely blind. Due to the mounting odds piling up against her, the facility in which she was being cared for deemed it appropriate to keep her locked in a cage for five years. Marvel touched the heart of a former employee at the facility she had been kept at and they continually advocated for better placement for her. Many who met her turned their cheeks, but if we’ve learned anything through rescue- it’s to fight hardest for those who cannot fight for themselves. This is how she is ended up in our care. Immediately upon intake, Marvel was placed in foster with one of our vet tech’s. She was angry, confused and terrified. Life for an animal is scary in itself but to factor in the terror of blindness and change of environment- everything you have ever known for your entire life- can seem like an impossible hurtle to cross. After many weeks spent gaining trust, she opened herself up in ways we never thought possible. She’s learned to truly be a cat for the very first time! She’s loving and quirky. (And not to mention- way too cute for words). Spending your life with her will never leave you with a dull moment. She is a special soul in need of a very special forever home. She will need a compassionate adopter who is fully willing to acquaint themselves properly with her and understand that she has special needs.
