Officially introducing Pepito!
Formerly “feral” Pepper from Devore Shelter. We pulled this huge (14.5 lbs!) and handsome dude from Devore a few months ago when his time was up and he was on the euth list. The shelter had him as a feral and we just weren’t quite convinced yet. But just in case they were right, we had a plan to get him to a barn as a “working cat” if need be.
Well - he’s not feral! He’s a loafie, low energy, uber chill, mellow, cat loving boy who would be the best couch potato buddy for a quiet home.
He gets along with any and every cat and tends to take the submissive roll and just bow out if any tension arises between the kitties in the foster room.
He does NOT like dogs and they scare him so I think there may have been a little trauma there with a pooch in the past.
He did test positive for FIV (he was definitely a formerly owned kitty and most likely got dumped on the streets where he contacted the virus.) But he is very healthy and happy and we don’t think it’s a big deal!
I really really love this guy and he can hang out with us here until we can find a family who doesn’t mind his FIV status.
He’s not playful, he’s not a lap cat (but maybe that will change when he’s in an actual home with a couch and not a kitty foster room) but he LOVES pets and wants to be near you and be your buddy.
He also lets you pick him up and kiss him :) .
He also likes to greet me at the door and say hi.
Pepito is just a very special, soulful guy who I wish could talk.
When he first got here he was very sad, withdrawn and shut down. He wasn’t joyful and we could tell had been through a lot. We showed him love and security and he’s now showing his true colors.
We definitely want to get him a home with at least one other cat as they really do bring him happiness and make him feel safe. Pepito is special. He is ready for his amazing family. DM for more information. He is a young adult, vets guestimated 1-3 years old, combo tested negative for FELv, UTD on vax.
