Meet Peso and Kwaazi, a bonded pair of silly, playful, affectionate, curious sibling littermates who are looking for a loving home.
Kwaazi is a female brown striped domestic tabby and Peso is a male tuxedo tabby. They are about 7 months old.
These kitties had a rough start to life and didn’t meet any humans or start socialization until they were over 4 months old. They will probably take some time to get to know and trust their new humans, But they have made SO MUCH progress since being rescued.
These sweeties went from full feral behavior (freezing and hiding at the very back of the carrier whenever I came into their room) to full-on lap cats. They will jump after any toy I toss and play with anything I dangle at them. They are high energy and still VERY kitten-y despite growing up fast.
Peso went from being the more shy/scared of the two to being the most affectionate kitty. It’s almost like one day he realized how much better things are inside and decided to soak up every moment of the comfy life. He likes to wake me up by snuggling against my chin or the top of my head. He frequently cuddles up on my lap for movie time and lets me pick him up if I’m slow and gentle. He gets jealous if I’m petting a different cat and runs over to make sure he gets his fair share of attention. He loves colorful puffball toys that he can pick up and stash somewhere. He loves Churus and chicken treats.
Kwaazi is the more cautious of the two, running and hiding at too quick of movements. It’s best to let her approach you when she’s curious or ready for a snuggle. She also likes to cuddle up on a lap and settle in for a movie. She loves back scratches and cheek scratches. She doesn’t like to be picked up yet and prefers to have a slow approach if you’re going to pet her. She also loves churus, the laser pointer, and peacock feathers.
They are still both slightly afraid of humans, especially new ones. So they need time and patience to build trust and feel safe. Sometimes if you pet or play a little past their comfort zone their instincts still kick in and they may make a motion like they may nip or scratch, but it’s easy to spot once you know them and can back off, reminding them they are safe and loved. Once they know you they will be the most loving and loyal companions though.
Kwaazi and Peso are going to need someone who is home most of the time to help them continue to grow into inside pet/kitten life. But once they know you they will love the heck out of you. They are sweet, loving, and very playful. They love to snuggle and groom each other and you can tell they are each other’s comfort companion. They are very treat/food motivated and curious. I’ve found that feeding them distinct meals at set times has helped them to be calm and confident in me as their caretaker.
What Kwaazi and Peso are looking for in a home:
- They are both relatively new to indoor life with humans, so they need some time to adjust to being indoor cats.
- They are very cautious of sounds and fast movements and will find very safe hiding spots if caught off guard.
- They thrive in a quiet, calm environment.
- They have lots of energy and will benefit from lots of active playtime.
- They feel at ease in a quiet and calm environment.
- They need to live indoors only.
- They have a positive history with other cats (1 male kitten their age and an older very chill male cat) and may like having another feline friend. If you have a cat we recommend the Jackson Galaxy method. That is how they were introduced to my cats and it was successful even though it took a full month of separation.
- They have no known history with dogs.
- They have no known history with children, but they open up if people give them time and let them come to you. I would be cautious about very young children since they are still adjusting and are very cautious of humans. They have great potential but just again need time and patience.
All Alley Cat Projects cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated prior to adoption.
