Happy Holidays! Make TWO cats lives better this holiday season by adopting! When you adopt one cat, it makes room to save another! Win! Win! The kitties thank you!
We are hoping for a few Christmas miracles too! We are searching for experienced cat parents to adopt some of our kitties who have been at the shelter awhile and need more socialization and time to adjust to their new life- like Rambo! If you think this is you and you're looking for a new kitty to add to the family read on!
This is Rambo!
He is a domestic short haired grey tabby with white neutered male, up to date on his shots, around 3 years old and available for adoption to be an indoor ONLY cat from Griffith Animal Control/Treasured Friends Rescue in Highland Northwest Indiana.
Hi, I'm Rambo! You can call me BoBo!
I was found in an apartment hallway. I think I had a home before, but I have been through some type of combat because I have some PTSD. When I was found I wasnt very happy because people had been mean to me- maybe they were afraid of me? I don't remember much about those days before. I'm at the shelter now and people are nice, but I still have some flashbacks and can get a little crazy. I want to be a nice boy, but the shelter isn't a good environment for me. I also don't like being in a cage all the time. I have a lot of energy and I think I wouldn't act so crazy if I was able to be out. I think I need a calm environment, so I can be the kitty I want to be. I'm still a little unsure and shy around humans sometimes. I do like pets and I love to play with the wand and jump and run! I just need some one on one time with a human to develop a real bond and overcome my past. I need a human that will give me time to calm down and to be patient with me while I got used to my new life. I think if someone wanted to give me a chance and give me a real home, then I would trust human again! I'm waiting for the right person who can give me that.
I do like bring sweet and I don't mind pets and picked up. I promise to be a good friend and companion and maybe even more someday!
I know I'm not a kitten anymore. I know I'll be passed over for being shy AND for being older but I'm still hoping someone is willing to give me a chance. I still want to be loved and have a real home too!
I'm at the shelter now, so please come by to see me! I dont know if I would like a home with other cats but probably no dogs or kids. I think a quiet home would help me feel safe.
If you have some patience and are looking for a kitty that really needs a home, I hope you'll consider me! I want to be someone's hero too! Please make an appointment to come and see me at the shelter!
Please call 219-922-1766 to meet Rambo!
Rambo will not be a "normal" kitty as soon as you take him home or he might be! We aren't sure because we only know him in the shelter environment, but we really think he might ALOT better in a home. He will definitely need time to adjust and someone who knows cats. Please consider this in your decision because it would set him back trusting humans to be returned. Please make an appointment to come to the shelter and get more information about Rambo and meet him! He needs someone who will really be there for him. If that is what you are looking for, please fill out an adoption application which can be found online at TreasuredFriendsRescue.org or follow the link from our profile at Petfinder!

Griffith Animal Control, in partnership with Treasured Friends Animal Rescue believes in giving kitties that others wouldn't normally get a chance at getting a forever home, a chance! Our fosters & volunteers work with shy and/or unsocialized kitties everyday to get them used to being pet and to show them no one will hurt them. However, when they go to a new home, some kitties will require extra time to get used to new surroundings and different people. Please consider giving a kittie who might need a little time to get used to a new home, a chance. This is a serious commitment and it sets the kitties back in their level of trust if they are given up after a few weeks or months. Please, only apply if you are an experienced cat owner and have patience.
Thank you!
