My Story

REESE is an 11 year old front-paw declawed cat. She was acquired by her previous owner in 2013 when she was just a baby as one of three pet cats for her children. When the kids grew up and left home a few years ago, the owner decided she didn't want the cats anymore, so she moved them into her windowless furnace room! She closed them in and turned off the lights so they lived in darkness 24/7 until she re-appeared every few days to refill their free-feeders and scoop their litter boxes. At some point the owner found a home for MARSHMELLOW & TWIX (the other two cats). REESE was left behind, all alone in the dark for almost a year, but when the 2nd owner fell on hard times MARSHMELLOW & TWIX were returned, and re-joined REESE in the dark furnace room until we rescued them on March 10, 2024. We cannot imagine the immense loneliness and desperation REESE felt all alone there in the dark. All she had for company was her unlimited access to poor quality dry food. At some point her owner decided to remove some mats from her fur, and brushed her so hard she literally pulled the fur out of REESE'S back. (Watch her video and see.) She had a huge bald spot which has since grown back in. Aside from being morbidly obese at 19 lbs and needing a diet, REESE appears to be a good shape. We gave her a bath when she arrived (she was filthy) and she's going to the vet on Friday, March 15th for a much needed physical. SHE IS SUCH A NICE CAT! She enjoys sitting on her foster mom's lap and getting petted, looking out the window and seeing sunlight, and alll-around human companionship. REESE is spayed, vaccinated, and front-paw declawed. If you are a really awesome cat parent who can give REESE the wonderful life she deserves for the rest of her life, please go to passion4paws.org/adopt and submit an online application to adopt a cat. She is being fostered in Waterbury, CT.
