My Story
Yang (male) is a 9-month-old, cuddly older kitten looking for his forever home with his sweet and playful sister, Ying. While they look very similar, Ying has a cute little white mark on her nose, and a more yellow color to her eyes.
Ying and Yang are truly the best of both worlds. Yang is a cuddly loving cat that wants to snuggle into your lap and get pets. Ying still likes to be nearby but doesn't need to be directly in your lap. Yang is more cautious in new surroundings, while Ying is the more adventurous and playful one. Ying could play forever with a wand toy. Both cats love to sit up high in the cat tree and take naps during the day. They also love looking out the window at all that is going on in the world.
They both use the litterbox well (in the beginning, Ying liked to lay in the litterbox but seems to have stopped that habit from what we can tell). They also have the quirky tendency to "cover" their food and water—we recommend having the food and water on a non-carpeted area, so the carpet does not get scratched up. Both Ying and Yang like to make trilling noises which are super cute!
This dynamic duo is often found lounging on the tall cat tree (on separate levels), by the window, or Ying likes to sit on a chair by the door in their room. Ying loves a good wand toy and will chase it until she is panting—make sure to give her a little break to rest if this happens, so she can continue to play without tiring herself out.
Yang also is interested in some wand toys, but really enjoys a sparkle ball that he can carry around and bat like a soccer ball. Once they have made sure it is safe, both cats like to wander around and explore a new space.
Ying and Yang eat their meals in the morning and evening. Their foster parents both work full time, so the kitties spend most of the day together and then get time with humans in the evening. Their energy level is low to medium. They do enjoy playing with toys but are satisfied with lounging around most of the day and then cuddling, exploring, or doing some active playtime at night.
They are currently living in a home with 2 adults and 3 dogs (two large breeds and one small breed). Since there are large dogs in the home which can be intimidating, the cats stay in the downstairs bedroom and will get to roam the downstairs living area as well.
Their ideal home would be with adults or calm, gentle, older kids. They do not have other cats or kids in the home, but they have met a 5-year-old and an 8-year-old. Ying was more willing to be out and play with wand toys with the kids, while Yang hid more but would pop his head out from under the bed.
These sweeties are more comfortable with less commotion and sudden movements. While they do not mind the dog noises and have been curious in some interactions with dogs in the foster home, they would likely do best with mellow, cat-savvy dogs who wouldn't be in their face.
They are a wonderful pair of cats and would be great for even first-time cat owners. Once they have warmed up to their new environment, they are very sweet and loving companions.
