Meet ZELDA

Now you did it......you have found a really awesome place to pick your companion animal from. Save Our Strays is a unique place to come and visit. I like to think of myself as an independent contractor for the cats. I speak for the voiceless. We save the cutest cats, mostly from outside, neglect, sad emails, poverty,or stumble upon them by luck over and over again. So far, we have adopted out over 1000 cats in 4 years. I rescue and live with them so I am very familiar with their background & personalities. I also have some really awesome women that volunteer here and help make this -chance at a new life -possible for them. Myself and my loving volunteers give them the best of everything from food-litter-sanitation-love. We do all we can for them. The cats sure are happy not to be where they were but, definitely look forward to having their own home/person(s) so their true personalities can really blossom. If you have TicToc: I do try to post videos of the cats here, on there. We are SAVEOURSTRAYS.PGH

The rescue is on the 2nd and 3rd floors of my big, old Pittsburgh home in Avalon ( I reside on the first floor). Once I get the cats fully vetted I let them play and go where they want without having to stay in a crate (if possible). If the weather is nice, our large outside cat e o is open for them to enjoy as well. Myself and my loving volunteers give them the best of everything from food-litter-sanitation-love. We do all we can for them.

Zelda was rescued with Gatsby AND Toby, who I think are her brothers. All three were playing outside together that day. With those two being homed as a bonded Zelda has to find her way in life on her own. She is brand new here, will purrrrr when she is in my arms but the rescue and all the other cats are too much for her to ever feel extremely comfortable with me, she needs to find her person. ZELDA would do great with a male cat, no issues with other felines for her. Her person(s) at first would need to spend some time with her. One who has patience to help her feel safe from the cruel world. She is scared but will let me cuddle her ,although she does prefer to be on the top of the cat tree looking at my like "WTF lady is this place, I am not in Clairton any more-am I". This princess has MAJOR potential. ZELDA needs someone to have the faith in her, based on she will purrrrrrrr and let you pet her but needs someone with prior cat experience.

If you are interested in coming to visit the cats, please call & leave a voicemail or send a text .412 863 0064. I do not have a long application process but, I do ask that you are able to have a cat where you live and financially able to afford one. If so, just call and talk to me to set up an appointment to meet n greet the kitties. I will introduce them to you/yours and then let you be with them so you can feel it out yourself. If you adopt from us great, if you don"t. that is ok too. What is meant to be will be. Save Our Strays always has a decent selection of the most amazing and unique cats waiting to show you that they love and need you REAL BAD.

If you are tired of the long, invasive cat applications, and the cat is either gone or nobody gets back to you ........ contact us. You will not have that same issue here.

Although some free advice. Once you adopt your cat, take them to a checkup. Do a stool sample & make sure they do a temperature check. Any cat that you get from anywhere, could use another set of eyes on them. From ear mites - to who knows what. Do your new baby a favor. Sets things up for success.

Vetting fees have also gone up a lot, just like everything else. The little bit of money we make off of adoptions goes right back into the mix to help the next stray in need. Off of the adult cats we break even most of the time, if we are lucky. I do not get the funding like the big nonprofits so adopting from me supports what I do..... pull theses helpless cats from the streets of Pittsburgh, get them fully vetted and into loving homes. The other big names take cats from inside of homes, I give the other ones outside, still in the trenches a chance that they would of probably never had.

Save Our Strays uses some of our profits and donations to get surgeries done for cats that have no one to pay to get them spayed/neutered (TNR). Our first three years we sterilized over 100 community cats, preventing a TON of them from being born outside.
