My Story

Hello, my name is Annie. I recently arrived in rescue with my siblings when my owner could not find homes for us. I did not previously live in a home so I am learning a lot of new things. My new family needs to be prepared to take over puppy housetraining. I am a spunky little beagle who is fairly brave, despite my lack of socialization. I am not quite ready for my new home as I await updates on vaccinations, deworming and a spay surgery but I hope to go home in a few weeks time. What I love to do: Currently I am loving attention from all kinds of people. I sleep in bed with my furry and human family but do need to go out potty 1-2 times during the night. I go out again first thing when it is time to get up. I eat breakfast alone with a slow feeder bowl as I will scarf my food too quickly. After breakfast I check on my family and sniff all over the house and run around out in the yard. I love to run and I am quick. I love to chase after scents and I love getting my sister to chase me, or I chase her, or the other dogs, or run with the kids. When people are gone during the day I am in my kennel, currently with my sibling, and I am not a huge fan but getting used to it since otherwise I would likely potty all over and get into trouble. After school/work is done I go outside to play and run around, snuggle on the couch, chew on toys, eat my dinner, watch tv, run around outside a few more times and settle in for bedtime around 9 pm. Personal goals: I am only about 30% of the way potty trained, so I have some work to do yet. I do get startled by new things and will howl at new sounds, people who startle me, or things I don't know. I am not leash trained and pretty uncomfortable with it so right now I am not safe to go out for a walk or be on a tie-out. I am not a fan of the bath but as I am small it isn't terribly difficult to manage. I am not very comfortable in the car but will settle and lay down after a bit. Favorite thing to do with my best friend: I currently really love people, and snuggling with other dogs, and especially my sibling. I like climbing snow piles and furniture and people like a little mountain goat. I like tug of war and toys. Kind of family I want: I would like a family that is not gone long days as it is really hard to potty train a puppy that way. Also I am young and need training, entertainment, and attention. A fenced yard would be preferable as I love to run and have puppy energy and am not at all used to a leash and collar. So far it does not seem like I would be very happy as an only dog as I love to play with other dogs. I currently do a lot of things with my sibling as we have been together our whole lives but my foster mom does think I could be adopted out without her as I can be quite independent. Biggest fears: New things startle me and I have been known to bark at my reflection, but I am learning quickly, and outgoing despite my background. Ideal weekend plans: I just want to hang out with my family and get plenty of play time and exercise.
