My Story

Meet Apple, a lovable shelter dog with a heart as sweet as her name. Apple's journey has been unique, as she was born deaf and mostly blind, but that hasn't dampened her spirits or her ability to bring joy to those around her. This charming pup may be a bit shy at first, but once trust is built, she will shower you with unconditional love and affection like no other. She would do best in a home with older children that will respect her boundaries and understand her disabilities. While she may not hear the world in the same way others do, she has developed an impressive ability to communicate through non-verbal cues and body language. Apple has proven to be quite bright and ready to learn despite her lack of hearing, she walks well on a leash, is crate trained and housebroken; using bells to signal her need to go outside. Apple should not live with cats as she is not very fond of them, but does get along well with other dogs. At the shelter Apple has shown signs of resource guarding her food and toys against people and other dogs. Apple needs someone that is willing to work with her quirks and understand how to build a positive relationship in order to diminish this behavior. In the shelter, Apple has shown remarkable resilience despite her initial shyness. She also loves to play in water, when at the shelter she always barks when she sees a hose and it is the cutest thing. Apple's ideal home would be one that provides a calm and nurturing environment, with a family who will shower her with love and support as she continues to grow and overcome any obstacles that come her way.
