I am currently in a foster home with dogs my size and do great! I am crate and potty trained. I even know how to use a doggy door. I am not a fan of a leash yet, but working on it. In true dachshund form, I like to vocalize when I hear something our of the ordinary, which could be a problem in an apartment type setting. So a house with any sized yard is best.
