Bash came from a hoarding situation where dogs were tied to walls and dogs left in kennels smaller then they should be. When Bash arrived he didn't know how to walk. We needed to carry him everywhere. He arrived with me completely shut down. His sister was doing better and we put them together supervised of course. And that did the trick, a friend in the middle of this hell. She got him to lift his head and to eat and play. We finally got them outside and she taught him how to run, well he hoped everywhere but it lead to running and playing. He was never taught how to play growing up so it can sound rough. But it's not. This dog is not social in the sense you are not walking up to him and petting him. When he wants pets he comes to you. He doesn't lay on the couch, or the floor, he prefers his open kennel. It's his spot and all his and he comes out when he wants and is in there when he wants. His bars are big enough that we find cats and puppies in sleeping with him. He allows the puppies to be all over him. We call him Uncle Bash. But when enough is enough he gives me a look and we remove the puppies. (I run a rescue I always have a set of puppies) He let's you know when he needs to pee and he runs outside like someone shot him. He runs in the same way and runs straight to his kennel. So it's ideal of his kennel is within sight of the door you are using to let him in and out. He has not challenged a fence. Four foot should be good for him. He has gravity issues, and when his playmate one day ran for it he got stuck because he couldn't get over the four foot fence which gave everything away and the jumper was recovered asap and we saved him. Again I just don't think anyone has taught him he can indeed jump. He is a digger, nothing terrible .But last year he dug a hole and poked a hole in the hose and built him a swimming pool. In which he would run out the back door and hop right into his pool. So doing things like giving him a pool may stop digging. He is rough on toys and anything in his kennel doesn't last a day. He loves chew treats. I try and give one per day. I've gone as far as I can with him. It's noisy here and lots of dogs come and go. He has gotten along with every single dog. I do worry about the small dogs because he is built and he isn't careful where he steps. But ones his size, he can play for hours and hours. Then lay on the deck, nap and start again. He is looking for a house with a dog his size. He is looking for a family who understands he is different. He is not super social, you are not taking him into public and into stores. You understand he does need a kennel and his own space, you may never need to shut the door but he wants and craves his space. Bash is neutered, Not current on rabies, current on Dapp. We flea treat and deworm every month. Also Microchipped. Bash is about 2 1/2 years old. He is a massive built pitbull Not sure on weight easy over 60 pounds. He is Brindle in color. He will need a fenced yard and we would like for him to have a playmate, another dog to teach him how to be a dog. And just a family that understands this is Bash. I'm hopeful with a new setting and dogs not coming and going. That that will make a difference and keep bringing him out of his shell. The rescues offer. If you foster him for 3 months and then sign the adoption paperwork, we will wave the adoption fee. This gives him the time he needs to settle in and get use to your routine and you use to his. This is a big undertaking. But patience and time is the key here. Once he settles and you have a routine watch him flourish. I will attempt to update his Rabies before he goes on his trial run. Bash's adoption fee is $300. An approved application and an appointment is required.
