Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety and welfare of our dogs. We are all volunteers and have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for. We do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog. *You must be approved to adopt Beau before we will schedule a meet and greet. We do not transport our dogs. *AGE: 5 years old (born March 2019) *WEIGHT: 85 lbs. *FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence is required. No electronic fences will be allowed. *COAT TYPE: Wavy moderate shedding coat. His coat needs daily brushing to keep his coat from matting and shedding too much. He will need to be groomed regularly (every 8 weeks or so) with an average cost of $100/groom. *ENERGY LEVEL: Medium. Beau will happily chase a ball a couple of times and then he's done with it and ready to sit and just watch whatever is going on outside. He will sleep as late as his people will sleep in the morning and then ready to take a slow stroll around the yard for potty time. *DOGS: Beau is living with 4 other dogs of all sizes and he's done great with all of them. We have multiple family dogs that come over for a visit and he's ready to play. *CATS: Unknown; he has had no experience with cats while in his foster family. *KIDS: We think no kids is best for Beau. He is a extra big Doodle and would easily knock a small child down. He also is of the opinion that is it is on the floor or within reaching distance it is his. A small young child might not understand that you can't just take something from him that he thinks is his. He also had the habit in his former home of eating socks and underwear and Beau would probably think they were 'his" to do with as he pleased. *CAR: He is great in the car! Hops right in, takes a seat and off you go! *CRATE: Beau has been crated in the past. In his current foster home, there has been no need to crate him. He is given free range of the house while his foster parents go to work each day, with a break at lunch for him to go outside. He tends to just sleep or lounge until his foster family gets home. *HOUSE TRAINED: Yes! Beau has had no accidents at all in his current foster home. His prior family said he would mark in the house, but his foster mom has seen no marking at all. *LEASH: Beau is good on a leash and loves to go for walks. But keep in mind he does weigh 85 pounds, so if he sees something that he might really want to check on, he could easily get away from his walker. *AT THE VET: Beau was fine at the vet and was ready to meet everyone there! Beau is a gorgeous male 5 year old Goldendoodle who was surrendered to IDOG by his family who adopted him from IDOG a few years ago. He needs an adult home where he can be his big goofy self. He will get up on the couch with you and snooze while his people watch television. He wants to sleep in the same room you are in, so his family needs to be okay to have a big body laying in the floor beside the bed when he's not in his raised bed. Beau doesn't need a lot of exercise, but he does need some. He has passed his "puppy crazies" and is really just happy to have his person touching him. He is going to need a family that doesn't mind if he counter surfs. Nothing is safe on your kitchen counters or tables if you aren't diligent about watching it. If he can reach it, it is his!! As far as exercise, he is okay with a short walk, or just running in the yard for a couple of zoomies, then he's done. He doesn't need another dog but would be happy with one in the home; he gets along great with all dogs he has met. . Adjectives that describe Beau: Calm Playful Confident Snuggly Affectionate Activities he enjoys: tug walking hiking chew toys squeaky toys cuddling meeting new people playing with other dogs Beau is a love bug. He is always happy to meet new people but he does tend to want to jump on them right at first and with his size, it can be a little overwhelming if you aren't a dog person. He will play with a squeaky chew toy and entertain himself for hours!! Beau is a counter surfer.....If you forget to put the food up, he thinks it is his. But he's very careful about it! He has yet to break a bowl or plate that he has eaten out of on the counter or table!! If he gets something like a ziplock bag of food, he's not eager to give it up! You either have to offer him something else that is of equal value ("trade") or just wait him out. Beau is neutered, microchipped, current on core vaccines, current on dewormer and heartworm/flea tick preventives. His fecal and heartworm tests were negative. ADOPTION FEE: $300 ADOPTION FEES: Under 6 months: $650 & up 6 months - 2 years: $450 & up 2 years - 4 years: $350 & up 4 years+: $250 & up Special Needs fee/donation assessed on individual basis Puppies have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting & expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses.
