My Story

Blaze came to us after we pulled him from county. Blaze had a broken leg and took quite some time to heal. He’s now ready to find his new home! Blaze: ( From his foster) Approx 3 years old can open doors so may experience this in a new home at first since he doesn’t try in foster any longer He cowers when you put anything over him… even just his shoulders. Not sure if someone captured him by throwing something over him. We’ve been working on it, and it’s improving… and I’ve been able to put a hiking back pack on him. He also cowers when you go to put a collar on him. He’s been good with other dogs… from bigger than him down to about 30lbs. I’ve had 5 at the house at one time, and he’s done great. For new dogs, I typically take them for a walk up and down the street to give them time to get sniffs in, before bringing them inside. He has an easier time with the dogs than their people. I haven’t seen any resource guarding issues. Toys – he doesn’t really care which ball he has, as long as he has a ball. Loki (fosters dog) will steal his ball if he walks away, and he just goes to find another one. Food – he appears to have no food aggression. He’s good about sitting and waiting for me to release him to eat, and I feed him right next to Loki. He waits his turn for a treat and takes it nicely. Loves balls & to play soccer… and can self-entertain, though he definitely would prefer you to throw the ball for him. (We’ve not yet mastered “drop it”.) He’s a good hiker… I’ve taken him as far at 9.2 miles. I think his leg is perfect! He sleeps on a huge ottoman in the corner of my room but hasn’t asked to get up on any other furniture. He is kennel trained and easily goes in. I leave the door open on it and he often spends time spends time in there while I work in the kitchen. He does his job and barks at the front windows or if someone comes to the front door. He will bark in the backyard as well when he hears noises. He does need to be harnessed in a vehicle. He’s gotten better about it but is very insistent about shoving his head under your arm while you’re driving, so he needs to be far enough away to not be able to reach you As some dogs who have been nursed to health, he has become very attached and protective over his foster. Blaze would do best in a home with a male. Someone adventurous and goes on long walks or hikes. Blaze loves the outdoors. Blaze will get some tips and maybe a lesson or 2 with his trainer so he can be successful in his new home - all included! Please apply at www.Paws4acause.net
