My Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Bruce, upon entering rescue, was initially a neglected and debilitated dog, grappling with various health issues such as Lyme disease, a thyroid disorder, skin allergies, infections, and a sinus condition with an occasional unexplained cough. Through dedicated treatment and care, he has shown positive responses, but managing his well-being requires both daily and as-needed medications. Additionally, Bruce faces mobility challenges due to hip issues in both legs and a torn ACL in his right hind leg. While corrective FHO surgery is not currently an option, his quality of life depends on limited yet regular physical activity, close monitoring, joint supplements, and prescribed pain management. Despite his physical limitations, Bruce adeptly uses a ramp for entering and exiting vehicles, finding joy in car ride adventures. Bruce is best suited to an environment with limited or no stairs due to his mobility challenges. He thrives in the company of other dogs, finding joy in social interactions. However, it's important to note that he may get a little greedy, particularly in situations involving high-value food or toys. Careful attention and management are necessary to ensure a harmonious environment for Bruce and his canine companions. Check out this video of Bruce at the dog beach. Despite his hardships, Bruce is a cheerful dog who thrives on love and attention. He delights in being petted and cherishes his stuffed toys. Preferring the proximity of his family, Bruce, given his physical condition, cannot be crated, but he comfortably roams the house, mostly lounging on orthopedic bolstered dog beds for optimal comfort. He happily follows his family around the house, providing quiet companionship as he rarely barks. He is also very housetrained. Bruce is currently taking the following medications: carprofen, apoquel and levothyroxine. Bruce is from one of our northern reservation partners.
