My Story

Drum roll. . . . Guess who is ready for adoption?! Buddy has been with us since October battling infections in his jaw due to an old injury. When he was living with the homeless, he was attacked by another dog, and his lower jaw on the left side broke. Because it went untreated, it has caused a lot of damage to his mouth and teeth. His lower jaw now has a gap in the bone that will never heal, but he can still eat, play with toys and be a happy dog. He’s good at setting his own limitations. He chews harder things with the opposite side of his mouth. Buddy is between 1-2 years old and plays like the Energizer Bunny. He has a foot fetish- he loves chasing and biting feet, stealing socks, and hoarding shoes. Buddy absolutely loves other playful dogs big and small. He can be overwhelming to some dogs though because of his puppy-like energy. He is friendly to people of all sizes too, though he is still learning the concept of personal space. He may bark initially at a new human, but once he realizes it’s someone to kiss, he’s good to go. When Buddy first came, he only knew how to drink out of fast food cups. He has learned to drink from bowls, but is still not a fan of baths. He will try to climb/jump out the entire time- so be prepared to get wet! He does well in the car and on the leash, though he does pull. A harness is best so as not to damage his trachea. Buddy is almost completely house trained and uses a dog door. He loves a yard- and is a digger. He can also be a barker if he hears noises outside his yard or home. Buddy has a HIGH prey drive and should not go to a home with cats or other small critters. Buddy has had to learn that food is always going to come; he used to eat so fast he would make himself vomit. A slow feeder bowl is still recommended for him. He also needs to eat separately, as he tends to try to steal other dogs’ food. At night, Buddy wants to curl up as close as possible with his people. In a crate he has some separation anxiety, especially at first. Buddy is a whole lot of love, craziness, and silliness wrapped into a furry little body! He doesn’t shed hardly at all and weighs about 11 pounds. If you have need a wild man in your life, Buddy might be the guy for you! Home check and fee apply. Please fill out an app at ahome4spot.com
