My Story

Meet Captain. This handsome 10 month old is looking for his furever home in time for the holidays! Prior to coming to his foster home, he spent a lot of time in a crate/kennel, so he was high-strung, stir crazy and full of energy.  He is very vocal, so his new owners will need to work with him to curb the anxious barking (I promise he has been improving!)  He’s a really sweet boy, just wants lots of attention. We have been working on some basic manners and he has been doing well - he’s housetrained, knows sit, give paw, down and ‘leave it’. He tolerates his crate but prefers to be with by your side or snuggled up with his people at night. He is a big boy, approx. 60 lbs., but is slender and lean and curls up into a tiny ball at bedtime. Captain needs a home that will keep him active – he loves to play in the back yard with our other dogs and take long walks through the neighborhood.  He would make a great walking/jogging buddy. He has a strong prey drive, so cats and other small critters are a no no.  A fenced yard is also recommended. Captain would love a new family to ring in the New Year with!! If you are interested in this puppy The first step is to go to our website and fill out an application. WWW.PlacingPawsRescue.org BEFORE CONSIDERING A PUPPY FOR ADOPTION: Please keep in mind that puppies need attention during the day. They need frequent potty breaks, playtime, socialization and often a mid day meal. Please consider your daytime schedule before applying for a puppy. SPAY/NEUTER POLICY: Our adoption fee covers the puppies spay or neuter at our vet in Libertyville. If the puppy is adopted prior to the spay or neuter being done you will be required to bring the puppy back to our vet within 30 days for the surgery. ADOPTION FEE: $425.00 The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations including rabies, HW test if age appropriate, de-worming, microchip, fecal, spay or neuter, Heartworm and flea and tick preventative. ADOPTION PROCESS: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application online at www.placingpawsrescue.org. Once we review the applications, those applicants that are thought to be a good match will be contacted as quickly as possibly. We ask that you please be patient with us as we are all volunteers. Then a telephone interview will take place, references checked and a home visit will be conducted. We will then arrange for you to meet the dog. We require that all family members, including current dogs meet the dog prior to adoption. We put all of the known information in the animals description. If the animal is listed on the website, we are still accepting applications for that animal. We only remove the animal when the final adoption paperwork is signed. The best way to contact us is by email at [email protected]. It is very difficult for the limited numbers of volunteers to return all calls. Thank you.
