Meet Captain

1 ½-year-old, 3’ tall, lean, 60# athletic male, likely part Dane and other unknown breeds seeks the family life for the long haul.

“I’m Captain. Kentucky born, Midwest raised. I’m looking for a family that has a large, fenced yard. I'm energetic and love to go for long walks so I can put my best paw forward. In my free time, I love to eat, go for car rides, and run, Run, RUN (without a lead). When I’m ready to chill, I willingly hang out with my peeps, and follow my nose to explore. My short black and white fur and black eyes win the hearts of all my foster mom's coworkers when I visit there. I love being the star but if I must share the canine stage, it’s better with a leading lady.

I’m smart and know these things - sit, give paw, down, leave it. I will hang out in my kennel if either of us needs a break for a short time. As a fast learner I'm hungry to learn more: will you help me? I am NOT a fan of cats or small critters (foster parents say something about a strong prey drive). I very much prefer full-sized humans to the small ones.

If you like being outdoors, love adventure and laughs, if you give me your time and experience, we could be a great match.

If you are interested in Captain the first step is to go to our website and fill out an application.

BEFORE CONSIDERING A PUPPY FOR ADOPTION: Please keep in mind that puppies need attention during the day. They need frequent potty breaks, playtime, socialization and often a mid day meal. Please consider your daytime schedule before applying for a puppy.

SPAY/NEUTER POLICY: Our adoption fee covers the puppies spay or neuter at our vet in Libertyville. If the puppy is adopted prior to the spay or neuter being done you will be required to bring the puppy back to our vet within 30 days for the surgery.

ADOPTION FEE: $425.00 The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations including rabies, HW test if age appropriate, de-worming, microchip, fecal, spay or neuter, Heartworm and flea and tick preventative.

ADOPTION PROCESS: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application online at www.placingpawsrescue.org.
Once we review the applications, those applicants that are thought to be a good match will be contacted as quickly as possibly. We ask that you please be patient with us as we are all volunteers. Then a telephone interview will take place, references checked and a home visit will be conducted. We will then arrange for you to meet the dog. We require that all family members, including current dogs meet the dog prior to adoption. We put all of the known information in the animals description. If the animal is listed on the website, we are still accepting applications for that animal. We only remove the animal when the final adoption paperwork is signed. The best way to contact us is by email at [email protected]. It is very difficult for the limited numbers of volunteers to return all calls. Thank you.
