My Story

Everybody who knows Charles says they are puzzled because he hasn't been adopted yet because he is a nearly perfect dog. Charles is described as a “big love bug” by his foster. He loves people and other dogs and is very playful with the resident dog and dogs at the dog park. Charlie is a 2 year old Snow Lab / Pyrenees mix who weighs approximately 78 lbs. Plain dry food is not a big hit with him so his foster adds a little extra goodies to his bowl like a little chicken broth or gravy. The best treats are the soft ones and he has a gentle mouth taking food & treats. Charles loves to go for walks, but can get distracted by critters such as rabbits & squirrels and will pull on the leash to try to get to them so a no-pull harness could be helpful in these instances. He sometimes jumps to greet when he is excited to see you but his foster has been working on that & it is getting better. He is a big boy and has a sweet nature but if there are children in the home they should be older as Charles doesn’t know he is a big dog. His recall at the dog park isn't the greatest & he needs more training in this area, so a fenced yard is a requirement; he respects the 4 ft fence in his current yard. Charles sleeps in bed with his person (or on a blanket on the floor). No experience with cats. He enjoys time outside playing with the resident female lab mix in the fenced yard – Charles would love to have another playful dog to live with. Charles is a very sensitive dog & somewhat “wimpy”. He responds quickly to a raised voice. He is reliably house trained, and has free run of the house when left for a full work day. The one time he was crated early on, he was able to work his way out of the crate. Bones and rawhides help meet his chewing needs. He rides well in the car, & is not a big barker except when other dogs barks or if he sees a critter. Charles takes after the Pyrenees in him when it comes to water – he doesn’t like to get wet, doesn’t like hoses, rain, sprinklers, or swimming in a lake; the first time he experienced large flakes of snow coming down , he was afraid of them & ran to the door to get into the house! Charles is neutered and current on distemper, bordatella and rabies vaccinations. His microchip is registered to Second Chance. The ideal home for him would include another playful dog. A fenced yard is required, and he does respect a 4 foot fence. His adoption fee is $395. Call 651-771-5662 if you are interested in this wonderful boy.
