My Story

Ranger | Age 2-3 years old, 55 lbs | Cattle dog, boxer, shepherd, blackmouth cur mix On 4th of July, Ranger strolled down 17th Ave at City Park in downtown Denver, and into the lives of what would be his new foster family. Despite his fur being in rough shape, and not being microchipped or neutered, he quickly settled in with one of the rescuers dog family in a nearby condo. He was shy and timid at first, but after realizing he was safe, started to warm up to his new surroundings. Within a day he was being playful with his new foster siblings (a shih tzu and an english springer spaniel). Over the last six months, Ranger has been seen by (and done VERY well with) vets (to get up to date on all vaccines and medical procedures), been boarded at Petsmart (where he won over their staff with his sweet personality), been groomed/bathed where he did extremely well, and completed a two week board and train to continue to work on socialization and behavior skills. He continues to love dog training and is very motivated by delicious treats! Ranger is looking for his next home (mostly because his foster mom is only allowed to have two). He would do best with a family / couple / person who is ready to be loved by him, open to playing lots of fetch at home or in fields, who will take him on walks / adventures, and will love having him as a copilot on car rides / road trips. He is great with other dogs if introduced slowly and properly so that they can become a pack, and would do best in a home without cats (unless he had even more time to acclimate). He'd also do better in a house with older kids (probably 8 and up) so that they understand to be patient / gentle with him. He loves having space to run and play fetch, so a yard would be great. Best not to put him in an apartment where the building/neighborhood is too saturated with dogs as he is still working on his leash reactivity. He's crate trained and potty trained, and doesn't chew on things. Ranger is a lovable dog who will make the best snuggler, co pilot, and adventure buddy! He is currently ready for adoption and is based in Denver, CO. If interested, please email [email protected]. You can also follow/support his journey on Instagram/Tiktok: @Rescuingrangerdog.
