Meet wonder dog, Dex! At 1.5 years old, this sweet boy found himself on the euthanasia list at a rural shelter. After being the reliable dog that volunteers trusted to help socialize other shelter dogs with, we couldn't let him down. Dex has shown himself to be an amazing friend to every single dog he meets. He has made quick bonds with one of his foster siblings and respectfully gives distance to the others when they need space. Dex is happy to play, nap, or watch the day go by...whatever strikes the mood of those around him. He is house trained and is fine to be left out of a crate when you're out for the day. Although he may fill out to be 60lbs, don't be daunted by his size as he strives to coexist and be your loyal companion. Dex is a lab/shepherd mix. He is up to date on vaccines and will be spayed and heartworm tested on 3/2/24. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue). The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as Pet Finder, and are no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed. *Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our puppies live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match!
