Doris Dachshund Mix Rockville, MD

Doris is a 9 year old 30 lb interesting mix, the vet says possibly some daschund. Doris continues to gain much needed weight (she came to us underweight) She loves meeting people and furry friends. Her daily routine consists of eating, strolling around outside with her nose to the ground, napping, eating some more, more outside adventures barking and chasing bugs, birds and squirrels, napping in the sun, more eating and settles in for the night pretty early on her bed and fluffy blankets. In between all of that of course she gets lots of love and affection from her people which she thrives on. Despite her past she is such a happy laid-back gal, whose tail is constantly wagging. She does let you know when she needs to go out and when she feels it is time to eat. It’s a pretty loud sound coming from a small body so neighbors in an apartment or townhouse may not appreciate her. Doris is looking fo a quiet low key retirement home. She appears to have raised lots of pups and deserves to not have to mother active fur siblings. When Doris arrived, she was full of mammary tumors hanging from her. We quickly addressed that by removing them along with having her spayed. Testing showed Type 1 Cancer but with the Dr confident they removed everything the likely hood of any reoccurrence in the near future is slim. At the time of surgery the Dr felt a tumor near her bladder but with the extent of the surgery could not address it at the time. Days later she developed the inability to always control her bladder and since then it was determined by a specialist that after removing it, she would be normal again. Before that surgery takes place she will need an all clear from a cardiologist which we are hopeful will happen soon. Until then she wears her diaper with pride. She is a sweet loving girl who deserves a happily ever after.
