Meet Freya
Freya has one of the saddest stories we'd seen this month.
She is a very smart, silly girl with lots of energy. She is about a year and half old and has been through plenty of trauma in her short life.
Freya was found living in the woods with her brother both were covered in mange, ticks, fleas, and worms.
Sadly, Freya lost her brother to a car before we could collect him and his sister.
Freya was captured and it was discovered that she had a rotting embedded collar in her neck; how nice. She was significantly underweight at 32 pounds... she is now about 40-42 pounds; perfectly weighing at what she should be (so says the vet)
Freya has also had to deal with a broken leg, so she still has a limp when walking. Freya had never felt love or kind hands. It didn't take long for this sweet girl to open up with her sweet and goofy side. Freya is very loving, bouncy girl!
She will bounce in one spot when excited just for your love an attention! She'll howl at you out of enjoyment when getting a cookie!
She does well with other dogs but can be a little territorial in her home if adding a strange dog (We've noticed that this behavior has grown since breaking her leg).
Freya does well around chickens, horses, and cattle. She has been around cats but has a tendency to chase them if they run... In her mind, HOW MUCH FUN!!! LET'S CHASE!!!! (well, the cat thinks differently!) She will back away when her name is called.
She is fine with children of all ages - but she does favor someone special- her main caregiver will have a new shadow!
Freya is very food motived and catches on easy to new tricks. She is kennel trained but if she gets bored she will let you know and will try to get out on her own. She is not food aggressive with any of the other dogs or me but can be food protective around new dogs (We've only seen her do this once while I was dog sitting he was to close to her food bowl and she charged him which made him step back and she went back to eating she never bit or fought him)
To alleviate it , we just separate the dogs by a few feet form each other.
Freya is a shoe thief, immediately takes shoes as soon as they come off your feet, will occasionally chew them but mostly likes to stash them on the couch (if your lucky she’ll put the pair together, lol!!!)
Freya does get car sick on long car rides if shes alone but does well if she’s with another dog (I think she gets distracted by the other pup.
Over all, Freya is a sweet and loving girl who craves attention, food, playing and learning!!!!!
She'd make a great addition to just about ANY family!
