My Story

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Genesis, 4.5 year old, spayed female, pit bull mix, 50 pounds. Genesis is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport out to state once an approved adopter is lined up! Like so many of our pets, Genesis was saved from the local animal shelter in Houston where she collected amazing notes from the ACTs and volunteers. Every one who met her fell in love and it is clear to see why - she really is just the bestest and sweetest girl. Genesis lives in a home with other large dogs and has done well, but she does get overly excited seeing dogs on a leash and will sometimes not pick up on cues to stop playing. When seeing dogs (and cats!) Genesis will pull strongly toward them. With time and proper introductions, Genesis can integrate with other dogs without incident. Genesis is not cat friendly. Genesis has been around kids as young as 2yrs and looooves getting pet, pawing at or jumping up so older kids may be a better fit for her at this time. In general, we recommend homes with children over the age of 10yrs or those who can understand and will respect animal behavior cues. She's had a few accidents in the house and her new home should be willing to be patient as she learns the routine and schedule. She does really well in a crate and is allowed to be loose in the house, as she doesn't chew on things she shouldn't. She is a counter surfer so things should be kept away! As a general rule of the foster, Genesis is fed separate from all the other animals. She has growled when the resident pups get close to her food but has not exhibited any food aggression toward people and you are able to handle her toys, bones and treats without issue. She doesn't care much about toys while outside but loves herself a good squeaky toy. Genesis is a low energy kind of gal - she loves to just hang out near her human and will paw at you for affection. She doesn't need much: a walk or two if you feel so inclined and all the hugs and pets and loves you can offer. She's super laid back and makes for an impeccable snuggle buddy. While Genesis would enjoy having a canine sibling, she is equally content to be the only love of your life. She enjoys sunbathing and cuddling up next to you, and is happy to play dress up in any ridiculous costume you may have. She can be shy when first meeting strangers but warms up pretty quicky - especially if a treat or belly rub is offered! :) ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her?
