My Story

Meet this handsome fella named Genius! He came into the shelter as a stray on December 15, 2023 and was never reclaimed so he’s awaiting his adoption day. He had been seen running around an area for months before he was able to be caught. He has grown so much since he came in scared and unsure of shelter life. Thanks to one of our dedicated volunteers and 2 of the managers. He’s learning manners and will need an owner that has time to commit and work with him. He’s very food driven and needs a place (area) where he can eat and know no one will take his food. Can’t blame him since he was in survival mode on his own before coming into the shelter. We have to toss his treats to him because he snaps very quickly when he sees treats of food. While there are people working with him it’s hard with having a lot of other dogs too. Once out of his kennel he loves to run and play fetch with a ball and will come to you for a hug and body rub. He’s super handsome and around 1 year 6 months old and current on shots. With the right mature home, love, commitment Genius will thrive and continue to grown into an even more awesome adult dog. Maybe you have the perfect home for this handsome guy!? If you have another dog and are interested in meeting another potential new furry member please bring him or her to the shelter and meet on neutral ground before adopting. No need to shuffle the animals around any more than necessary. Please know that 1 mosquito bite can create heart worms and they can be fatal if not treated. It is VERY important to keep your pets healthy and protected by keeping them on a once a month heart worm and flea/tick prevention. These animals are counting on you as their owner to provide them with lots a love and the proper health care so PLEASE make sure you are aware and prepared before adopting. Owning a pet is an extra expense and responsibility but is so worth every minute and penny you invest in them. They will add lots of joy and unconditional love if given a fair chance. The shelter is open Mon.-Fri. 10-1, 2-5, Sat. 10-4. Adopt a homeless pet and save a life. If you can not adopt right now come out and volunteer and make a difference in the lives of these animals while they await their FOREVER home. In order to adopt any of our "bully breeds" there is special paper work that will need to be collected and approved prior to the adoption. We love all of our dogs and want to make sure to place our "bully babies" in homes best suited for them.
