My Story

Please DO NOT click "Start Your Inquiry" on Petfinder. If you are interested in Ginny, please complete our online Love-A-Stray application. We can only consider local ( no out of state) homes with a completed application, so we can learn a little about you to make sure Ginny is a good match. Thank you! Application:www.loveastraydog.com/application Meet Ginny, a 6 year old, 15.4 lbs, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She was rescued from a puppy mill where she didn’t live a great life. After having all her medical needs attended to by Love-A-Stray at the Avon Lake Animal Clinic, she has a clean bill of health; spayed, fully vaccinated, micro-chipped and she got a dental. Ginny has begun learning life in a foster home and she loves it. Ginny comes out of her shell more and more every day. Ginny is a little hand shy and will pancake to the ground if you try to pet the top of her head. She feels much safer if you pet her under her chin to start. Ginny is still scared being picked up and will run away if you try to bend over to pick her up. She does best if you crouch down and slowly pick her up. Ginny will freeze out of fear. She has learned how to use pet stairs to get on furniture and now enjoys laying right next to you for some cuddle time. Ginny is crate trained, comfy bed or comforter she can nest in is her favorite. She will even at times take naps in her crate (crate door open she just goes in to nap on her own). Ginny is still working on her house training but mostly because she came to us with a urinary tract infection which has since been treated. With patience and consistency, she should be fully house trained very soon. Ginny likes the company of other dogs but doesn’t typically play with them. She would do ok in a home with no other dogs or with dogs that will respect she may not want to play with them. Ginny does follow around her foster sister cavalier and enjoys being near her. Because of her timid nature and startles easily on fast and loud noises and movements we require kids 10 and over and a quieter home. She deserves a fenced in yard (not electric) so she can have freedom!! Ginny loves to say hi when you’ve been gone to show how happy she is to see you. Or remind you when it is dinner time ;-). When new people come over, she is happy to see them but does need them to go slow by sitting or crouching down and petting her under her chin. She will continue to come out of her shell. Ginny's adoption fee is $400.00 to try to recover a small amount of her vet bill that included a dental. If you are interested in Ginny, please submit an online application so we can learn a little about you to make sure Ginny would be a perfect match for you and your family.
