My Story

If Interested in Grace, Please Contact the Owner. Inquiring through Petfinder Doesn’t Always Work. Grace New Hanover, NJ Grace, born 2 Dec 2014, has been a member of our family for 9 years. She is an energetic and loving girl that loves to be pet and enjoys playing with her people! She loves the outdoors, even in her older age. She is a bit heavy-set now at 60 lbs, but is otherwise healthy. She enjoys longer walks but is also content just hanging out in a comfy spot. She is house trained and does not chew on things she is not supposed to sans the stray sock if she can’t find a good chew toy. Unfortunately, Grace needs to find another home. When I met Grace, it was a different time, different marriage, different state, and our family has since grown, and she is not compatible with our living situation. We have a 1-year-old with another due at the end of January 2024 and with my job even with training Grace has not adapted to our new family. She is not doing well with a small child in the home and another on the way will not help. She is a herding dog and the risk of her knocking over a toddler or hurting them playing is too great. She is not aggressive but does jump, paw and nip. She also does not enjoy having her tail and ear pulled, she gives the courtesy of warning, but it is not something we can risk. She has done well with older children 4-6 years old before but given her age it is not fair to her to separate her from the family until the boys learn not to tug of ears and tails. Grace is spayed, vaccinated, up to date on her shots and preventatives, and has no known medical issues. She does not do well with strange dogs, but has done well visiting a home with dogs and plays well with them in a dog park and yard. That said, she does prefer to be left alone and to just coexist. She needs a home without small children, but could do well with other adult dogs given they have a compatible temperament.
