My Story
Meet Highway, a resilient 3.5-year-old mixed breed weighing 62 pounds, with a story of survival and hope. Found abandoned on a desolate highway in Southern IL, Highway's journey to recovery has been marked by both hardship and healing.
Despite his rough start, Highway's spirit shines brightly. Rescued by compassionate hearts, he was nursed back to health from a state of emaciation, only to face the challenge of Heartworm disease. However, Highway has faced this obstacle with bravery and has already completed his first injection, showing remarkable resilience.
Now, as Highway seeks his forever home, we're searching for a local adopter within an hour of Bloomington-Normal who can adhere to our treatment schedule for him. During his treatment period, Highway requires a calm environment with minimal activity, but rest assured, his affection and companionship make every moment worthwhile.
Highway is a model canine citizen, fully house and crate trained. He thrives on the simple pleasures of life, whether it's lounging in the house or yard with his furry foster sibling, enjoying leisurely walks, or accompanying you on car rides. He's an expert at snuggles and finds joy in playtime with his beloved toys.
With a repertoire of commands like "sit," "stay," and "release," Highway's eagerness to learn and please is evident. His amiable nature extends to everyone he meets, from adults to children—he even adores the company of his foster's 3-year-old nephew.
Described as friendly, outgoing, playful, and loyal, Highway's adaptable nature suggests he'll flourish in various living environments. While a fenced yard would be ideal for his active spirit, what truly fuels Highway's happiness is the presence of a furry companion to share his adventures with.
Highway's journey embodies the power of resilience and the boundless capacity for love. If you're ready to welcome this remarkable soul into your home and heart, get in touch today to embark on a journey of companionship with Highway. His minimum adoption fee is $295 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents.
He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
