My Story

Ian is a playful, affectionate 8 week old lab mix that weighs 10 lbs. He is estimated to be around 55-60 lbs when he is full grown. He is the king of the side eye, but don't let that fool you - he is as sweet as they come. He loves to cuddle up with his human and just observe everything around him. He is very curious, but more reserved than his bolder big brothers, so he will sit back to observe from afar before deciding if he wants to join in on a more thorough investigation of something new. He is happy to hang out on the couch while you watch tv or relax on the porch outside as you drink your morning coffee. As long as he's with his human, he's a happy boy. His ideal family would be laid back and enjoys the outdoors, and he would be a perfect companion for someone that wants a nature trail walking buddy. Ian is low to medium energy, so he has short spurts of energy that are easily burned with a few short exercise sessions per day. He is easily entertained with his toys and chew bones, and loves to switch between different toys as he is playing. He can't ever seem to decide which one he likes the most, so he will drag multiple out of the doggy toy box and take them to his dog bed to play with. He doesn't need a whole lot of exercise to wear him out before he's snoozing away for his nap, but he does get little zoomies when he is really excited for a new toy that he gets to play with. He is the type of pup that enjoys doing whatever his human wants to do, so if you want to go explore nature trails one day and then just hang out cuddling on the couch the next, Ian is happy to join you on whatever activity or adventure you want to do. Just don't expect this laid back pup to partake in marathons as he likes to live life in the slow lane. Ian is dog, cat and kid friendly. He does well with dogs of all ages and sizes, and is currently in a foster home with dogs ranging in age from puppy to senior. He is submissive when meeting new dogs and allows them to come up to introduce themselves first before offering a sweet puppy kiss and tail wags. He would be great for a family that has another dog that he could continue learning from as he grows and that wants a sweet, calmer playmate for their current dog. Although he loves other dogs, he is perfectly fine being a solo dog in the home as long as he gets plenty of time with his human. He is very respectful of the two resident cats' boundaries in his foster home and doesn't interact with them much except to observe them from afar. His laid back, sweet temperament makes him the perfect pup to join a family with kids of all ages. He would love to have some human kids in his forever home to play and cuddle with. Ian is currently working on mastering his potty training skills and currently uses a potty pad in his foster home, but he has started transitioning outside for potty time. He currently sleeps in a kennel and puppy playpen setup at night, but he would love to sleep with his human once he gets older. He will need help perfecting his leash training once he is in his forever home. His ideal home environment would be a house with a fenced in backyard that he can sit outside to watch the birds and squirrels go by, while also still perfecting his potty training and leash training. He would do well in an apartment, townhouse or condo as long as he has a human home majority of the day to continue working on his potty training and leash training, and can take him out for a few short walks per day as he gets older. Ian will have a $200 refundable neuter deposit added onto his adoption and transport fees because he is too young to be neutered at this time. He cannot be adopted into Canada at this time because of his age. If you are interested in adopting Ian, please fill out an application at: https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/adoption-application. Ian is in a foster home in Central Texas and will be transported once adopted. TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately at this time, we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation, due to the extensiveness of the transport distance and it being unfair for the dogs who are not adopted to have to make the trip back. Please be advised that applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we do have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so please be mindful that when you submit an application that it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL description on PetFinder describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets. The total cost to adopt is $830, which includes a $400 adoption fee, a $230 transport fee, and a $200 REFUNDABLE neuter deposit. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormer, and health certificate from a licensed veterinarian.
