My Story

Say hello to Miss Izzie! Izzie is a beautiful Terrier / Boxer mix who is approximately 3 years old and currently weighs 48 pounds. She was found living on the streets in a neighborhood in Weslaco, Texas near the border of Mexico. This sweet girl was pregnant and had her babies in the dirt under an abandoned trailer home. Thankfully some of the neighborhood children were able to get under the trailer to get the puppies to safety. Izzie went into a foster home where she was a wonderful mom to her babies and now they are here in our rescue program to find the loving homes they all deserve! Izzie is such sweet girl with the most wonderful disposition. Her rough start is behind her now and she is ready to move on to bigger and better things! She is friendly, playful and is always happy to jump in the car and go on an adventure. She loves everyone she meets and her tail is always wagging. Izzie does get along well with the other dogs in her group here at the rescue and is learning that toys are pretty cool, too. She s crate trained for her meals and for sleeping but if you asked Izzie, curling up next to her people in a warm bed would be a-ok with her as well. We just love this girl and can see her doing well in just about any family environment! Izzie is located at our rescue near San Antonio, Texas. She is spayed, up to date on all shots, microchipped and her adoption fee is $325. A generous donor has offered to pay half of Izzie's adoption fee, so her adoption fee is $162. A meet and greet will be arranged with an approved application. *Izzie is Heartworm positive and has completed treatment. She also tested positive for Chagas disease and has started her treatment. This is completely curable after treatment and dogs can go on to live long and happy lives. Our rescue is one of the first to do Chagas testing for all of the dogs in our care and is having measurable success in the treatment protocol. We are also focused on continued education and awareness of Chagas to help even more dogs.
