My Story

03/01/24 Weight: 68.3lbs Estimated DOB: 08/23/19 Neutered: 08/25/21 I graduated with flying colors on Oct 10th from Dog School! I'm currently being fostered in Baja, Mexico! But I'm ready to fly to you!! I recently had the privilege of fostering Jason for two months (June and July 2023). What a sweet boy! He chills well, loves to go on walks, rides in the car, and loves everyone who comes to visit. Hell give a couple of quick barks when he hears a noise outside that he doesnt recognize, but doesnt go on and on. I would have adopted him, if I didnt already have three dogs back in the states. Very hard to leave him. ~Rick Foster dad update: Jason and I are getting along great. He gets pretty excited sometimes (grabs and pulls on my clothes, jumps over the furniture, etc.). I didnt want to discipline him initially, but now I stand up and say no, and walk away from him and he calms down. He usually follows me everywhere (I go looking for him if he doesnt). We go for a 10 minute walk in the morning (he wont go #2 in our yard), then take him on a 45 minute to an hour walk in the evening. Great dog! Jason is smart and fun to be around; because he's so intelligent, training is a snap for him - he masters agility or any skill easily. Jasons the type of dog that makes eye contact with his person (handler) and wants to please them. He wants to be emotionally connected with a person. He is playful and engages with other dogs but does not like it if a male tries to dominant him, that could start a fight. Because of his strength he should be monitored closely while meeting other dogs to ensure compatibility. Hes been going on hikes, on and off leash, with volunteers and is a great hiker. Jason would be a perfect companion for someone who likes outdoor adventures. Jason is not the kind of dog that will run away if let off leash but rather he will frequently 'tag up' and check back in with his person. He loves car rides. Here is a comment from a volunteer who has hiked with Jason many times and has done some obedience training with him, "I LOVE this guy! He looks up to me for direction and guidance and I know he wants to do the right thing but has likely had very little people companionship and direction in his life up until now. The right person will be lucky to have this boy in their life. If his adopter continues his leash and obedience training and allows for plenty of exercise, they will be rewarded with a loyal and wonderful friend." Jason completed his Dog School Training on Oct 10th 2022 as a star student, the head trainer said he would adopt him if he didn't already have a full pack. This is a note from his trainer: "Jason is a sports dog by nature; any challenge that comes his way is not a challenge for him. He loves to play with balls and to do agility circuits. He responds to game stimuli when training him. He is a very obedient dog and is focused on tasks, hes also a very affectionate dog with a protective instinct if given love properly." Cortez Rescue recommends Jason be adopted by an experienced dog handler who can effectively continue his training and support him navigating through the world. Jason currently shares his foster home with a big pittie girlfriend. Jason knows basic leash skill and obedience commands like sit, down, off, wait, heel (loose leash walking) and come. Before leaving Cortez Rescue, Jason will be given a full medical assessment to insure he remains in optimum health. He currently lives in Baja near Cabo San Lucas. Jason is not microchipped.
