Hello, I’m Javier, a handsome and cuddly Pit Bull Terrier. I’m 1.5 years old, 50 pounds, and black and white in color. I am hyper, strong but oh so sweet! I’m looking for my forever home where I can be your best friend and snuggle buddy. I’m a friendly and loyal boy who loves to cuddle with people. I’m house trained, crate trained, and leash trained, and I’m ready to go on adventures with you. I do pull on the leash when I am first let out because I get so excited! But I tend to instantly correct this on my own and am able to calmly hang out with you, allowing the leash to relax. I tend to be a bit of a chewer and would benefit from someone working on this with me as I am likely to drop this habit with proper corrections and some chew toys. I sit when I am told or when you are about to give me a treat. Yum! I also take treats very gently and like to give kisses. I’m good with children but I’m not a fan of cats, so please don’t have any of those. I can be nervous around other dogs and take some warming up to be more comfortable around them. This means I will need to meet any dog(s) currently in the home before I join your family, just to make sure we get along. Here is what my shelter playgroup notes say about my interactions with other dogs: Javier attended playgroup 3/1/23, he was very unsure coming into the yard; but soon warmed up to being social to the other dogs. His play style is gentle/dainty. When he got tired, he mostly posted up on the fence. Rate 8/10 2/23/23 “when i went inside his kennel his tail was down and he was very shy but he let me put the collar on him and let me rub him. he can walk on his collar and leash just a little fine but needs a little courage prep talk. when he entered the play yard he just stood there and Gwen Stefani #20440 started to sniff him wanted to know him a little better but his tail was slightly started go up but he was still a little nervous and eventually started to warm up as his tail was wagging but he is shy and unsure, also he had his ears pinned back and his tail was down, but very interested into other dogs.” I’m neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm negative, so I’m healthy and happy. I’m currently in Clemmons, NC, but I can be transported out of state if you’re the one for me. I’m a survivor who was saved from the Memphis Animal Shelter final plea list.
