My Story

'Upper Peninsula Animal Wefare Shelter' (formerly Marquette County Humane Society)About Joker Introducing Joker: The Jester with a Heart Greetings, fellow humans! I go by the name Joker, although you might also hear me respond to Jokes, Jokey, handsome man, or little man. I am a sprightly one-year-old pup, bursting with energy and ready to conquer the world! One of my greatest strengths is my intellect. I am a quick learner and can pick up tricks faster than you can say "fetch!" Training sessions are a breeze for me, and I pride myself on being an excellent student. Additionally, I am incredibly sociable with all kinds of dogs and have formed lasting friendships with many shelter dogs. Having lived with other pups before, I am confident that I would be an ideal brother to another furry companion. When it comes to walks, I am a true gentleman on a leash, gracefully trotting alongside my trusted human. Speaking of which, I am an absolute sweetheart with the people I trust. Affectionate and gentle, I have a knack for snuggling up to my favorite humans and making them feel loved. Wondering what brings a smile to my face? Playtime with my human friends, of course! Whether it's engaging in a spirited game of fetch or indulging in some well-deserved snuggle time, I thrive on the joy that comes from bonding with my human companions. Zoomies, exploring the great outdoors on long hikes, performing tricks for treats, and chewing on frozen Kongs and toys all make me wag my tail with glee. However, there is a tinge of sadness in me. You see, I have spent more of my youthful days in shelters than in a loving home. But fret not, for my optimism shines bright! I am determined to find my own person to call family. While I still have a slight apprehension towards strangers, I have been working diligently to overcome this fear. It may take some time for me to fully trust new individuals, but I believe I am ready to embark on a new chapter in my life. What am I seeking in a forever home, you ask? Someone who truly understands my needs and is committed to continuing my force-free, positive training. A calm and quiet environment, with minimal visitors for now, would be ideal. An adult-only home would suit me best at this stage. Cats? Well, I'm not sure! They may seem fun to chase! But give me some guidance, and I may think cats are ok. Plus, I am a special fellow as I was chosen to be Deb's Dog of the Month, a UPAWS program that benefits shelter dogs. To ensure we start off on the right paw, I will have the privilege of attending four private sessions with Tacomo Dog Training. Additionally, my bag will be packed with the book "Do No Harm Dog Training," a basket muzzle, a harness, and a cozy crate. So, won't you come and meet me? Let's build a friendship, and who knows? We might just become family. I am desperate for a loving home, and I cannot wait to embark on this incredible journey with you. Let's make memories and spread laughter together!WEBSITE: www.upaws.org
