I would like to introduce Lucky!
Lucky was found this spring in foliage on the side of the road in rural Mississippi. The finder actually thought he walked up on a carcus. Lucky raised his head and tried to wag his tail. He was emaciated, dehydrated, and too weak to stand. The finder rushed him to vet and Misfit Mutts Rescue stepped up to help.
As it turned out, Lucky wasn't quite as lucky as we thought. He had 2 blown hips. Over the course of about 4 months, Lucky had 2 orthopedic surgeries and lots of physical therapy.
Lucky gets around great and is finally pain free! He loves, loves, loves, other dogs. He's a little wonky but gets around great! He even does zoomies! He loves to sunbathe. He's discovered dog beds and is a fan! He's crate trained too! He's a creature of habit and does best with a routine. He's not one for surprises. (Me either Lucky, me either.)
Lucky is FINALLY ready for a forever home!
He's fully vetted, heartworm negative, neutered and microchipped! He's on heartworm prevention and has had numerous blood panels. He needs to stay on the lean side because of his hips. We estimate his age to be between 3 and 4yrs old. He weighs right at 50lbs.
Lucky can be shy in new places and with new people. He's very submissive. Even when it was obvious he was in excruciating pain he was never grumpy... just sad.
Lucky is a very special boy. He's cheated death, lived through 2 orthopedic surgeries and countless hours of PT (and we all know how much PT hurts!) and he quite honestly may have been beaten at some point because he flinches and pancakes when scared.
But with a little patience, time and love Lucky will promises to be your very best friend. He'd do best in a more chill environment with another dog friendly pooch that will help him settle in. He is fine with our dog savvy cats. If there are kids in the home, it would be best if they were 12yr and up and not rowdy. (A bookworm that would cuddle and read to Lucky would be right up his alley!)
We promise Lucky is worth it! We adore him and know you will too once you get to know him.
Lucy's adoption fee is $450 (but pales in comparison to his vet bills!)
Lucky's adoption fee also includes his transport fee and all related transport expenses! There are no addition fees!
