Mordu has had a rough start. His previous owner said she believed he had “doggie autism” and was not trainable. That has not been our experience with him! For the past few months, she had him living almost 24/7 in his kennel in the garage, where he would frequently been standing in his own urine. He has happy tail that needs to heal, plus raw hot spots on his feet. He will need to be neutered and microchipped before we release him, but he just received his first vaccinations today. He behaved very well in the lobby, although he needs more socialization to trust people.
He has been anything but untrainable in my home! He learned his bed stay and can stay on the bed until I release him, and just needs someone to be consistent with his training. He heels BEAUTIFULLY on a leash, and ignored other barking dogs in our neighborhood. He knows “Sit” and “Down.” He needs more socialization, which he will receive in my home as his tail heals and while he heals from his future neuter. My assessment: he is completely trainable, even though he is not very food-motivated, he is motivated by side pats and affection. He has lots of love to give!
He stayed in his kennel all night without scratching or whining, and he CAN hold his bladder in his kennel (no accidents in the house!)
