Patches is currently in a foster home in Houston, TX and is eligible to transport to an adopter as soon as one is lined up!
Meet Patches!
Patches is a 2 and half year old female, American bully / pit bull terrier mix. Patches currently weighs 55 pounds and is fully vaccinated, microchipped, spayed and ready to find a family to call her own!
Patches landed herself on the euthanasia list at a high volume kill shelter in Houston, TX. She was pulled to "safety" by another rescue that ultimately abandoned her. Thankfully, this sweet girl had an amazing group of shelter volunteers in her corner that took her in. She is now with a dedicated foster family and ready to find her forever family!
Patches is dog friendly and plays well with other dogs! It is apparent that she has had to compete for food and potentially affection in the past. Patches would flourish as the only dog in the home, but she does enjoy doggie play dates! Her foster family describes her as having a moderate energy level. She loves to run and play, but she knows when to settle down.
Patches has not met any cats yet, so we're not sure how she would react to them.
Patches has only been around teenage children and she did great with them! She is such a sweet girl, so we believe she would do well with any age of child.
Patches walks great on a leash! She'll stay calmly by your side and she knows the command "heel".
Patches is fully potty trained and crate trained! She does not have any accidents inside the home and is sure to do all of her business outside. She does really well in the crate and is very comfortable when crated. Her foster family crates her when they have to step out for errands.
Here are a few positive things that Patches' foster family had to say about her: Patches is a beautiful, loving soul searching for a companion. She will alert if a stranger approaches the home but does not show signs of aggression. She loves belly rubs and cuddles on the couch, as well toys and treats. She is very comfortable going up and down large staircases. She would be great for an active family or a homebody with a yard. Patches is extremely social and friendly with humans!
Patches is very eager to please. She loves running off leash and will stay within a reasonable distance, checking in often. We are making great progress with her off leash recall command (Here).
Even though she enjoys running and playing outside, she is always excited to come inside and relax. She loves belly rubs and resting her head on your lap.
Patches is dog friendly, but it is apparent that she has had to compete for attention. She just wants the opportunity to show you she can return love better than the rest!
