My Story

Ringo Breed: Catahoula Leopard Hound Mix Age: 1 year +/- est Weight: 40 lbs Medical: Up-To Up-To-Date on Vaccinations, microchipped, neutered Cat Friendly: Unknown Dog Friendly: Yes Kid Friendly: Ages 8+ House Trained: Yes Crate Trained: Yes Location: Oklahoma Meet Ringo! He is a one- to two-year-old Catahoula leopard dog, who is microchipped, neutered, crate trained, and potty trained. He is a star retriever of the ball, and he will drop it right at your feet every time. If it rolls away, he’ll pick it back up and put it right back at your feet. He loves to play. His favorite toy is a ball, but he loves any toy that squeaks. He will even self-entertain if you hold out and don’t throw the toy for him ! He is great with my 8 pound, Yorkie, not taking any toys away, even if it’s his favorite one. We are working on sit and stay, leash, training, and recall. He’s smart and doing well with these. He knows to sit and will wait to be invited through a door. He is about 10 pounds underweight at this point but has already put on at least an extra five. He is very loving and loyal, he calms down nicely for snuggles and petting, and will easily give you, his belly. He is welcoming to people in the house, even new people he’s never met before. He is up to date on immunizations. We have not introduced him to other dogs or cats yet. He is very active and would do wonderful with someone who has land and a job to do. He is protective of the property and will run the fence line and bark at other dogs if they are on the opposite side of the fence. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family. If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered. Ringo’s adoption donation is $350 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test, is on preventative, microchip and neuter depending on age at time of adoption. If the dog is too young for a spay/neuter then they will be adopted with a spay/neuter contract and deposit. We do not have a physical shelter; all our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.
