My Story

Our adoption application can be found at the bottom of this pet's bio. Once your application has been approved, we can arrange a virtual meet & greet with you and Rosie! Rosie is currently in a foster home in Houston, TX and is eligible to transport to an adopter as soon as one is lined up. Meet Rosie! Rosie is a 1 year old English Pointer mix. She was found roaming the streets with 2 other dogs when she was picked up by animal control and taken into the shelter. She soon found herself on the euthanasia list due to overcrowding. Thankfully, we were able to get her to safety with a foster family. Rosie is fully vaccinated, microchipped, spayed and ready to find a family to call her own. She currently weighs about 45 pounds. Rosie is looking for a special, patient family, but we promise she'll be worth it! Rosie has social anxiety. She is an absolute DREAM inside the home and once she has warmed up to you, but she is fearful of new people. Rosie is dog friendly and currently lives with another dog in her foster home. She loves other dogs, but prefers to meet dogs in a slow, passive manor until she trusts them, then she'll be their best friend! Some dogs she meets and they're instant friends! Others, it takes her just a little time to fully trust them. She's not aggressive, just not her playful self with them until she's warmed up. Once she has warmed up to you and trusts you, Rosie is super playful! She enjoys running zoomies in the yard or spending her day sleeping on the couch. Rosie has not been cat tested, so we're not sure how she would react to them. Rosie is kid friendly, but due to her nervous nature, we would recommend older children ages 12 +. She has been around children as young as 3 and 7 years of age, but she tends to keep her distance. She has also been around a 12 year old who is more calm than the younger kiddos and Rosie did well with her. She accepted treats and obeyed commands. Rosie is excellent on the leash! She stays calmly by your side. It's almost like the leash isn't even there! Rosie is fully potty trained! She uses a bell on the back door and rings it when she needs to go outside to potty. Rosie is also crate trained! She enjoys having a crate as it's her safe space. Rosie stays in the crate while her foster parents are away from the home for work or errands. Her foster family usually gives her a toy or bone to keep her occupied while she's in her crate and she's content. Rosie is great about sharing her food, toys, water and treats with the other dog in the home. Rosie's ideal home would be one with a backyard. She loves to run around and also sunbathe. She would also love another dog in the home as she really enjoys the company of another dog. Most importantly, a patient family who will allow Rosie time and space to warm up to them. Treats will help win her over, but it's really about giving her time and space. Here's a small blurb about Rosie from her foster family: Rosie is such a sweet girl. She's very obedient and only wants to make her humans happy. She likes affection and enjoys cuddling with her humans. She just enjoys being next to you and keeping you company. She knows: yes, no, sit, lay down, paw, kiss, and waits until you tell her “ok go” to eat. She also knows "go to sleep" for bedtime. She’s very playful and knows how to entertain herself, but she always prefers to play with another dog or person. She’s playful and sweet. She’s dopey and funny. She’s always in a good mood. Please consider that as a socially anxious dog, she will need more time to open up to people and other dogs. We promise she'll be worth it!
