My Story
Hey, Everyone!
My name is Sarge. My foster family likes to call me Sargio or Sargie though. They think it fits me a little better. I came into foster care in early December. I was found out in the middle of no where by a nice lady. It was cold and I was so, so hungry that I was eating roadkill. :( I was taken to the local animal control where a different nice lady took care of me. I was never claimed so animal control reached out to IEBR and then I came to my foster parent's house. I am about 4 1/2 years old and a good boy! I'm a little taller than your average English Bullie and my legs are a little taller, this happens to help me be a little more athletic. I'm pretty quick and agile, if I do say so myself.
So far, here are a few things that my foster family knows about me.... I really, really like to be with my humans. I have my foster Dad trained well. He's been sleeping with me at night so I don't feel lonely. :) I also like the Mom here and the little human. I'm not 100% sure about the other dogs here yet. There's a little girl dog that seems nice. They also have these things called "cats". They are a little odd, but I don't mind them. However, I AM a little concerned about the other bulldogs here, especially the big boy bulldog, but my foster family thinks I can get over my worries. To be honest, I'm worried that he might take my food or my new bones and after going without these things, I want to make sure it doesn't happen again... Did I mention that I love, love, LOVE food?? I'm definitely food motivated!!
I wanted to tell you this other thing that my foster Mom can't really understand. I heard her telling someone that it "breaks her heart". So, besides the fact that I was found alone in cold weather, underweight, and being forced to fend for myself, I also have this strange old wound on one of my back legs. It doesn't hurt anymore and the hair is growing back, so that's good stuff, but my foster Mom would sure like to know what happened. The thing that foster Mom really doesn't get, though, is that I know about being in a house and I know how to shake paws. Someone loved me enough to teach me things! I like to think of myself as a pretty nice fella, so how I came to find myself alone in the country is beyond me!
I'm sure none of you would blame me if I told you that I'm kind of afraid of some things. (Um, no thank you, fireworks and spray bottles!). I'm up to date on all my vaccines and I've been neutered already, but I'm not quite ready for adoption as my foster family is still getting to know my personality and helping me put on some weight.
Soooo, to make a long story short, I'll be looking for my forever family soon. If you're interested in possibly adopting me or one of my pals in IEBR, go to our website (www.ilenglishbulldog.org) to read about adoption policies and procedures.
Love,
Sargio
