My Story

We'd like to introduce you to Shay, the most affectionate, cuddly, attention seeking hound you'll ever meet! Shay is a 2.5 year old Blue tick beagle. She's short and about 30 pounds. Shay loves toys and playing with other dogs (but likes people more!). She has a lot of energy in the morning and loves a good walk or play session. She gets along great with other dogs, but sometimes needs help calming down. She doesn't like when other dogs go into her kennel space or when another dog is getting a lot of attention. Shay has worked on treat guarding and is now understanding that everybody gets treats, so no need to protect it. Shay sleeps in a kennel overnight, although she'd much rather sleep in your bed. She stays in the kennel when her foster humans are out running errands. Shay hasn't been destructive with shoes or blankets. She goes potty outside and has only had a few accidents when her foster parents wait too long to take her out. She hasn't had any messes in her kennel space. Shay's natural hound instincts mean she needs a fenced in yard because she'll run for squirrels and other visitors. She can easily hop a four foot fence, so outside time should be supervised unless you have a 6ft fence! She would be the perfect solo dog in your home, so she can keep all the lovins for herself! OR she'd be a great friend to a similarly active doggo around her age that doesn't mind high energy playing. She is curious about the family cat and will occasionally pursue them, but she is gentle and mostly just wants to play. She likes to bark and howl if someone is outside and she's curious. She'll need continued help on her manners and simple commands, training would be fun for Shay! Shay is spayed, up-to-date on shots, microchipped and ready to go! If you are interested in Shay, please fill out an application at www.bassetandbeagle.org. Shay's adoption fee is $400.00
