Before we get to Smiley's story... how bout that underbite?! SOOOO cute!!!! <3 Smiley is a little dog with a terrible past. She was found by animal control after a concerned citizen reported a deceased dog in a yard. Smiley and another dog had been mauled by the other dogs they lived with. Sadly, her friend was deceased, and her injuries were so severe that she was rushed to an emergency veterinary hospital and was in critical condition. But this girl wasn't ready to give up! Once she was stable enough she was sent to a county shelter, where she remained "in the back" for almost 5 months. While her physical wounds healed, she was very shy ... surprisingly not with dogs, but with people. She has never shown any sign of aggression at all, but it seems like she has never known what it's like to have an owner who cared for her, let alone loved her. Thankfully she is now in a wonderful foster home and is coming out of her shell! She has a dog foster brother who she adores and who gives her confidence, so we would like to see her in a home with another friendly dog.
