My Story

** $10 in pledges to the rescue that pulls ** Sunday ACCT-A-157373 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to behavioral concerns. Sunday must have confirmed placement with an EXPERIENCED ADOPTER or RESCUE PARTNER by Sunday, February 11th at 10 A.M. Should Sunday's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Sunday is a 1 year old male puppy who came to ACCT Philly as a stray. His finder described him as friendly, cuddly, playful. However, Sunday has shown signs of being fearful towards men such as growling and backing away when he sees them, so he will need a special home with someone who can patiently work with him to overcome this fear. Sunday urgently needs to exit the shelter before his fearfulness escalates due to a stressful shelter environment. 2/8 Staff spent some quality time with Sunday, during which they observed the following: "Sunday was timid once entering the room. He wandered around and paced the perimeter of the room a few times and then came back over to us. He gave some mid level wags and had soft eyes allowing some pets before pacing the room again. He did not have much interest in interaction for several minutes, but was not tense with us at all and was tolerant. When given peanut butter or high value food he did tense up with us approaching and give a whale eye, distanced himself from us, and frantically tried to eat it quickly. He likely would display some guarding with food but did not escalate past it. He was noted to not like men yesterday so we tested with a few staff members. He was very avoidant when men would walk in the room, hiding behind us, tense body, watching their movements. He did not escalate or become reactive but was extremely uncomfortable and would not let any male staff members within 7 ft of him. 2/7 Seems fearful of men - backed away from male staff in intake lobby, but would approach myself and other female staff with wagging tail and looser body language. 2/7 Growling at male staff but did ok when being handled by a female staff member. When Medical Staff evaluated Sunday, he was found to be friendly and goofy, and in apparently healthy condition with no obvious signs of injury or illness. Come meet Sunday and help him learn what it's like to live a normal dog life! Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details. If you are a rescue interested in pulling this animal, please email our lifesaving team, or visit here if you are not currently a rescue partner: https://acctphilly.org/acct-philly-love-local-partnership-program/ Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging a dog or cat. Confirmed placement is considered confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent All animals at ACCT Philly are from Philadelphia, as the only open intake animal shelter in Philadelphia, we are not able to accept animals from outside of Philadelphia. ACCT Philly's Pennsylvania kennel license number is 08313
