Sylvester

Meet Sylvester! He is a 1 to 2-year-old, 18-pound chihuahua mix who came to us from an overcrowded shelter in CA. Sylvester is currently living in a foster home and this is what she has to say about him…. We adore Sylvester. It is hard to believe he has spent so much time in shelters and kennels - he is just thrilled to be in a home and is so unbelievably trusting of humans. He really is a joy - I’m writing this at my desk with him in my lap. Sylvester is such a fun energetic happy affectionate little guy who loves to play, explore, and then snuggle up for some cuddles and kisses. He is confident and friendly with strangers and dogs. He is a perfect gentleman when we visit stores, and he trots around the neighborhood just taking everything in. He walks quite well on a leash. He is probably around 1-2 years old but he still has the puppy vibes. While he would love a yard to run in, Sylvester could do fine staying in the city, as long as he is getting enough exercise. He doesn't spook at loud noises or bark out the window. He's the perfect size – 18 lbs - and he is pretty unfazed in general. He loves to play with his foster sister but would also probably be ok being an only dog. His main priority is you. He can be a bit rambunctious for older dogs who don't want to deal with him, but we have spent a lot of time working on his social skills and play style, as my dog isn't always as enthusiastic as he is. Sylvester likes to be with his humans. He sleeps quietly through the night in his crate although he would certainly prefer to sleep near you. He has not been destructive in the home. His perfect adopter would be excited to love on him, take him to explore new things, make sure he has lots of physical and brain exercise, and is committed to continuing training. Sylvester loves to play with toys and to chew, so giving him what you want him to play with/chew will ensure he doesn't become destructive. He loves to be warm and cozy - his favorite place is my heating pad. He must be with someone who wants to curl up for snuggles and kisses when he's ready for a rest.
