My Story

THORIN AGE-5 months WEIGHT- 30lbs -Will most likely be 45-55lbs full grown. This is not a guarantee but a guess based on his current weight and age. BREED GUESS- Shepherd/Cattle dog Thorin had a rough start to life. He spent 4 of his 5 months in a 24 inch crate at an animal hoarders home. Others in the group were crated so long and so often, some suffered permanent leg deformities. Luckily, Thorin was rescued before this could happen to him and only suffered low muscle tone from the months of inactivity. In a very short time in a foster home, he is thriving. He's extremely dog friendly. He's in doggy daycare and a class favorite already. He can be overwhelmed with huge dogs at first but quickly becomes friends. He had a brief cat introduction and did great. He's getting sunshine and exercise and loving it. It shows in his glistening, beautiful coat. He is 99% potty trained. He sleeps like a champ in his crate overnight while we get to 100% but would love to sleep next to a family member soon. He's learning people can be good and that snuggling is the bomb! He is shy, submissive and still figuring out a whole new world. He will need a soft, patient owner to let him bloom. Thorin's Home Requirements Are #1- A confident, playful dog in the home #2-A fenced yard #3- No children under 8 #4-Someone home more than gone. He's spent far too much time in a crate already. Thorin is full vaccinated and neutered. If you think you might be this gorgeous boy's match, put your app in at soardogs.org or reach out with any questions. Adoption donation required. This covers altering, DAP series vaccinations to date of adoption, Bordetella Vaccination, Rabies vaccination if over four months, Microchip, Deworming, heartworm test (if over 8 months), monthly flea/heartworm prevention to date, grooming, full veterinary examination, and temperament evaluation. All SOAR dogs go through a ten-day quarantine period to ensure they are healthy, before being adopted. We do not operate on a first come first serve basis, but screen applicants in order to find the best fit for our adoptable dogs.
