My Story

Meet Truman! Shelter Arrival: January 8, 2024 Background: Emaciated stray Seeking: Experienced Home with a Heart for Recovery Truman, the brave survivor, found his way to the Saginaw County Animal Care & Control Resource Center on January 8, 2024, as an emaciated stray. Now, he's on a journey toward recovery and in search of an experienced and compassionate home. Resilient Spirit: Truman's resilience shines through despite his challenging past. This pup is ready to leave his history behind and embrace a future filled with love, care, and understanding. Placement Recommendations: Truman is looking for an experienced adopter who is not a first-time dog owner. Patience, training, and a gentle touch will be crucial for Truman's rehabilitation. As a very treat-motivated pup, positive reinforcement will play a significant role in his recovery. Best as an Only Dog for Now: Due to his history of neglect and starvation, Truman may do best as the only dog in the home during the initial phase of his recovery. Once he regains strength and confidence, introducing him to other dogs can be considered. Shy and Nervous: Truman can be quite shy and nervous, especially in new environments and around new people. A patient and understanding adopter who can provide a calm and reassuring environment will help Truman build trust and overcome his shyness. Truman's story is one of resilience and hope, and he's ready to embark on a new chapter with a loving family. If you're an experienced dog owner with the heart to guide Truman through his recovery journey, consider reaching out to Saginaw County Animal Care & Control Resource Center. Let's give Truman the second chance he deserves!
