My Story

Turtle has spent the first few years of his life in and out of the shelter. He was a favorite among the staff at PACC. Due to an unwitnessed altercation between Turtle and another dog in the home he was living in at the time, he was returned to PACC and placed on deadline. At PACC he was placed on fluoxetine due to shelter stress after being returned after the altercation. I believe he would be able to be weaned off the medication with time and patience. He has been in foster with a mother, a teenage boy and two other dogs for about 7 months. He is a very smart boy and learns tricks quickly. He can be a mischievous boy, but he really is a sweet guy who wants to give and receive love. If you ever take him with you on a drive to Starbucks, he recognizes the establishment and will be expecting a pup cup <3 He walks well on a leash with a harness. He does get scared when he can sense a storm is coming and fears the sound of fireworks like most dogs and likes to be close to his person for comfort. He is a great snuggle buddy but is also able to sleep in his crate when necessary. He will sometimes come around when you are eating as he is very food and treat-motivated, he doesn't beg but if his hovering is bothersome you can easily just put him in his crate with no problem at mealtime. It took some time for Turtle and another resident dog to warm up to each other, but they have learned to coexist in the same household with proper care. He is house-trained and will alert you when he needs to go potty. He is crate-trained. The longer he has been in his foster home, the more and more he has come out of his shell and blossomed. He has endless potential to be a really good companion. No telling how far he can go with time, patience, unconditional love, and training. He really is a special boy.
